The LVMH Watch Week, the first major event on the watchmaking industry calendar, officially began on 21 January in the ever-bustling city of New York.
Join us as we explore the standout moments and highlights of this dynamic showcase.
The 6th edition of LVMH Watch Week, originally scheduled for Los Angeles, found a new home in New York City, due to the devastating California wildfires. Taking place from 21 to 22 January at the iconic Tiffany & Co. flagship store on 5th Avenue, this year’s event expanded its scope by introducing three new brands to last year’s six-brand lineup, offering a dynamic start to the watchmaking calendar. As the first major horological showcase of the year, LVMH Watch Week will continue its momentum with a second leg in Paris from 30 to 31 January.
Here, we spotlight the standout timepieces showcased by three key brands.
Zenith
Zenith kicks off 2025 with two striking releases: the gem-studded Chronomaster Sport Rainbow, redefining tool watches as jewellery, and the stripped-down DEFY Skyline Chronograph Skeleton, showcasing minimalist engineering. These contrasting designs underscore Zenith’s versatility, seamlessly blending opulence and precision while pushing the boundaries of modern luxury sports watchmaking.
The Chronomaster Sport Rainbow reimagines the classic Chronomaster Sport in 18k white gold, adorned with a full gem-set rainbow bezel of 50 baguette-cut gemstones and matching sapphire hour markers on a striking black lacquered dial. This vibrant display of gem-setting mastery is paired with Zenith’s celebrated El Primero 3600 movement, delivering 1/10th-second precision and a 60-hour power reserve. Finished with an integrated white gold bracelet and featuring 5.36 carats of exquisite gemstones, the watch merges technical brilliance with bold opulence in a luxurious statement piece.
Equally captivating is the new DEFY Skyline Chronograph Skeleton, an open-worked marvel combining modern design with Zenith’s horological expertise. Its angular 42mm steel case features a 12-facet bezel and a meticulously skeletonised dial that pays homage to the brand’s “double Z” logo from the 1960s, showcasing the precise El Primero 3600SK calibre at its core. Boasting a 60-hour power reserve, 10 ATM water resistance, and Super-LumiNova markers, this timepiece balances performance and aesthetics. An interchangeable strap system adds versatility, enabling quick transitions between the steel bracelet and a rubber strap that complements the bold blue or black dial. Together, these releases highlight Zenith’s ability to explore both vibrant luxury and architectural minimalism, redefining the modern luxury sports watch landscape.
Bvlgari
Bvlgari unveiled two exquisite timepieces that celebrate its mastery of crafting jewellery watches, while debuting the cutting-edge Lady Solotempo BVS100 self-winding movement. Developed over three years at Bvlgari’s Swiss manufacture, the BVS100 is a compact yet powerful calibre, measuring just 19mm in diameter and 3.90mm in thickness, with an impressive 50-hour power reserve. This movement, a testament to Bvlgari’s expertise in crafting ultra-thin calibres and compact mechanisms, exemplifies the brand’s commitment to blending technical innovation with sensual design. Notably, the BVS100 will extend beyond these timepieces to power other Bvlgari collections and even be shared with other brands within the LVMH group, marking it as a milestone achievement in contemporary watchmaking.
The groundbreaking Lady Solotempo BVS100 movement makes its debut in the Serpenti Seduttori Automatic, marking a technical milestone for women’s watches. Tailor-made for the Serpenti’s unique serpent-shaped case, the ultra-lightweight 5g calibre powers a three-hand display and features a decorative snake-scale pattern visible through the transparent caseback. The 35mm Seduttori combines sleek, hexagonal-scaled “second-skin” bracelets with versatile options, including yellow gold, rose gold, bi-colour steel, and dazzling pavé diamond-set designs.
The Serpenti Tubogas Automatic is a striking addition to what is arguably Bvlgari’s most iconic collection. Crafted entirely in rose gold, it features an opulent bezel set with 40 diamonds and a pink rubellite crown, exuding timeless luxury. Embodying the serpent’s enduring symbolism of rebirth, this 35mm masterpiece seamlessly merges artistry and innovation. Paired with single or double-twirl bracelet designs, it reinforces the Serpenti Tubogas’s legacy of elegance and technical sophistication.
TAG Heuer
TAG Heuer kicks off 2025 with two bold additions, showcasing its mastery of blending heritage with contemporary innovation.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph expands its iconic collection with five dynamic new models, including a collaboration with Oracle Red Bull Racing. These watches, encased in lightweight titanium, feature ergonomic designs, vibrant colours, and lacquered chronograph and running second hands. Inspired by the energy of Formula 1, their aerodynamic lines, micro-perforated bezels, and racing-inspired straps evoke the thrill of the track. Built around the “Grand Prix by night” concept, the collection pairs dark tones with vivid accents, offering unique colourways like lime green, bold red, and deep blue. Powered by the self-winding Calibre 16 movement and equipped with robust rubber straps, these 44mm timepieces embody the adrenaline-charged spirit of Formula 1 racing.
On a more delicate note, the TAG Heuer Carrera Date brings a refined, feminine elegance to the iconic Carrera series. The latest 36mm models feature graceful powdery pink and lilac dials, artfully balancing the collection’s racing heritage with modern sophistication. Eleven diamond hour markers and a polished H-shaped steel bracelet lend a touch of understated glamour to this contemporary design. Powered by the dependable self-winding Calibre 7 movement with a 56-hour power reserve, these subtle yet captivating timepieces reaffirm TAG Heuer’s mastery in blending tradition and innovation, appealing equally to seasoned collectors and those seeking a hint of everyday luxury.
