Cortina Watch’s 50th anniversary celebrations ensues with an exuberant exhibition with Chopard, celebrating watchmaking and the modern woman
Cortina Watch, one of Singapore’s most respected names in watch retail, proudly celebrates its 50th year in business in 2022. To commemorate its Golden Jubilee, Cortina Watch is introducing several special and limited edition timepieces with longstanding partners in watchmaking. This March, Chopard will be presenting a much anticipated collection exclusively for the ladies, comprising of limited editions created together with and exclusively for Cortina Watch’s anniversary celebrations.
To mark the launch of the two unique series created especially for Cortina Watch’s anniversary festivities, Chopard will be presenting the ‘Happy Sport – Tale of an Icon’ exhibition at the main atrium of Paragon Singapore, from 3 to 13 March 2022. The exhibition will be accessible to the public from 11am to 8pm daily, with pre-registration available online at here. Alternatively, visitors are also welcome to walk-in during exhibiting hours.
Unravelling with the emblematic statement that started it all – “Diamonds are happier when they are free,” this exhibition aims to create awareness and highlight the Chopard’s expertise in artisanal craftsmanship in Fine Watchmaking as well as the inspiration with led to the creation of Happy Sport – a revolutionary timepiece that has been setting hearts aflutter since its birth in 1993. Presented in six chapters, the exhibition also brings to life how the Happy Sport collection embodies the spirit of joie de vivre and the free-spirited modern woman.
The final chapter of the exhibition ends with the joyous union of Cortina Watch and Chopard, where the two special editions – Happy Hearts Cortina 50th Anniversary and Happy Moon Cortina 50th Anniversary will be unveiled. Both family-owned businesses, Cortina Watch and Chopard have enjoyed a close-knit and successful partnership since 1992. This special collaboration for Cortina’s 50th anniversary will be the third with the independent Swiss watchmaker and jeweller, following one-off editions made specially to celebrate Cortina Watch’s 35th and 40th anniversaries previously.
Two special edition Happy Sport timepieces close to the heart of Cortina
Produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces, the Happy Hearts Cortina 50th Anniversary timepiece is fitted with a 36 mm stainless steel case and red alligator leather straps. This watch features a white dial brought to life with six dancing elements: five diamonds and a red heart. While the diamonds depict five decades since the humble beginnings of Cortina Watch, the red heart carries a deeper meaning – as part of Cortina Watch’s continued efforts to give back to the community, net proceeds from the sale of this special edition will be donated to the Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF). The Happy Hearts Cortina 50th Anniversary timepiece also features an exhibition caseback with a special “Cortina Watch 50th Anniversary Since 1972” inscription, together with a heart-shaped symbol – the logo of the SHF.
Also presented as a limited edition, is the Happy Moon Cortina 50th Anniversary collection. Made in three variations presented with a blue aventurine, green aventurine or red mother-of-pearl dial and paired with 18-carat ethical gold. Featuring the moonphase display – a favourite complication among Cortina Watch’s discerning female clientele, this is a mechanical and poetic creation brimming with enchanting precision and craftsmanship. Only 5 pieces will be made for each dial variation. This special edition of Happy Moon also comes with an exhibition caseback stamped with “Cortina Watch 50th Anniversary Since 1972”.
Both the Happy Hearts and Happy Moon Cortina 50th Anniversary limited edition timepieces will retail exclusively at Cortina Watch boutiques.
