Six Parmigiani Fleurier timepieces presented; six watches shortlisted for the 2024 edition
The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) 2024 ceremony will take place on November 13th and will award timepieces from participating brands in categories representing the very best of watchmaking. Parmigiani Fleurier is proud to announce that the six submitted watches have been acclaimed by the members of the GPHG Academy to compete for the final contest next November. This absolute consecration rewards the reshaping of the brand’s identity and collections since 2021.
TORIC SMALL SECONDS PLATINUM
The new Toric Small Seconds competes within the Men’s category. This creation is exclusively made of precious metal: case, 18ct rose gold movement, gold dial, gold hands and indexes, platinum buckle on a Nubuck strap. It benefits of the highest traditional and manual finishing techniques such as Côtes de Fleurier guillochage on the gold plates and “hand grained dial. Toric Small Seconds Platinum is a classic imbued with modernity, refined and whose execution pushes the standards of watchmaking to their ultimate limits, giving a new definition of a luxury whose values are evolving.
The collection is deliberately breaking the framework of prevailing conventions that correlate directly with the notion of the new generations expectations and values expressed by the art of watchmaking with great tradition and aesthetic excellence. This collection encapsulates the evolving codes of masculine sophistication, where timeless craftsmanship meets a liberated, effortless approach to dressing.
TONDA PF MICRO-ROTOR NO DATE
Stripping the watch of everything superfluous, leaving only the essential: the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date ranks within the Time Only category. It sublimates the quest for absolute aesthetic perfection and purity. Tight, integrated lines. Superlative finishes. Automatic micro-rotor movement. The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date embodies a modern design template in line with a clean and minimalist aesthetic. Reflecting the House’s functional and chromatic style, combining high-end finishes with exceptional watchmaking work, it is an object strongly in demand by watch purists.
To meet the expectations of true purists of watchmaking design, Parmigiani Fleurier chose to give the “Golden Siena” dial time indications but no date window. Nothing is left to chance, but always correlated with great attention to harmony between form and function.
TONDA PF 36MM GOLD DIAMONDS
Selected to compete within the Ladies category, The Tonda PF Automatic 36mm is both sumptuous and delicate. It is made of 18-carat pink gold and studded with diamonds, subtly evoking the spirit of Parmigiani Fleurier’s presumed lightness and preciousness. The pattern traced by the precious stones from the crown to the sides of the bracelet gives the model its full visual identity and enhances the bracelet’s fluidity. The brilliant-cut diamonds that run along the outer sides of the bracelet, a unique feature of this creation, are of different sizes to fit perfectly into their sculpted gold cases.
While the bezel is adorned with precious stones – brilliant-cut diamonds – the buckle is fully set, revealing only the brand logo in 18-carat pink gold. Hidden, it is, by definition, an intimate pleasure, revealing the beauty of a tactile object, punctuated by an organic heart that conveys emotion and is charged with sensual preciousness. Rare enough among ladies’ watches to merit a special mention, this jewellery creation does not detract from the technical sophistication and expertise behind it: a double-barrelled automatic movement, a hand-guilloche dial and a bracelet of exceptional finish.
TORIC SPLIT SECONDS CHRONOGRAPH
A creation representing the quintessence of the Art of Watchmaking, synthesizing all the highest standards in the field. Toric Chronograph Rattrapante embodies the excellence of a vision, in content and form. It contests within the Chronograph category. This watch represents the quintessence of top end watchmaking execution and performance. This new 18-carat rose gold model features a grained dial underneath which beats a high-frequency split-seconds chronograph 18ct rose gold movement at 36,000 Vph including two column wheels.
This racing machine benefits of ultimate finishings extended to its Nubuck strap. Its skeletonized load-bearing structural elements suggesting an arabesque leave ample room for visual appreciation of its moving components. Gold movements today are extremely rare in high-flying watchmaking.
TONDA PF SPORT CHRONOGRAPH
A sporty watch by essence and by nature, but whose appearance and treatment place it more on the side of elegant watches reserved for the use of aesthetes. Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Arctic Grey enters the Sport category. It is adorned with fresh and refined colours, playing with the contrasts between dials, counters and straps. Sporty in terms of functions, but casual chic in terms of overall aesthetics. Everything about the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph exudes relaxation and that personal time that is far away of performance, that of the weekend, that of hedonism.
The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph is equipped with a high-frequency in-house movement (5 Hz) with integrated chronograph. It is COSC-certified and offers 65 hours of power reserve, so you can enjoy privileged moments in complete peace of mind. As all creations signed by the brand, its finishings and execution details reveal the care it has taken with a “triangular stud” guilloché dial playing on light effects, a minute track flange matched to the colour of the counters and the knurled bezel – the Parmigiani Fleurier signature.
The strap is worked in the sartorial spirit dear to the brand: its sophisticated texture is treated to approach a textile rendering, while being finished with a seam similar to that of the artisan-saddler when working on leather.
TONDA PF HIJRI PERPETUAL CALENDAR
The Tonda PF Hijri Perpetual Calendar is a testament to Michel Parmigiani’s belief that watchmaking can and should be a window into the history, culture and philosophy of the people who have shaped our perception of time. Calendars are mirroring civilizations and Hijri is the watchmaking expression of the tabular Islamic calendar that was developed by Muslim scholars and astronomers in the 8th century. The first year of the calendar corresponds to the year 622 CE and is marked by the Hijra (in Arabic “migration”) of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in present-day Saudi Arabia.
The Hijri calendar is based on the cycles of the moon. This constitutes a 30-year cycle with each year consisting of 12 months of 29 or 30 days. In each 30-year cycle, there are 19 common years of 354 days and 11 abundant years of 355 days. Tonda PF Hijri Perpetual Calendar displays all these complex informations on the viridian green dial and pays tribute to one of the major civilization’s heritage as do the Tonda PF Xiali Chinese Calendar and the Tonda PF Annual Gregorian Calendar.
