Franck Muller draws its inspiration from Vienna’s iconic landmarks, the Schloss Schönbrunn, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Wiener Staatsoper, the emblematic opera house. The result is an ode to elegance that marries history, art and fine watchmaking to create three exceptional timepieces that capture the essence of Vienna’s grateful lines, intricate floral patterns and refined shapes.
Housed for the first time in 2023 in a distinctive Curvex CX case, the emblematic Giga Tourbillon has been fully redesigned and manufactured with a completely new movement, showcasing meticulous attention to details in every component that underlines Franck Muller’s commitment to craftsmanship and exceptional horological technique.
At the heart of each masterpiece lies a breathtaking 20 millimetres Tourbillon, elegantly elevated by a delicately adorned cage that combines the elegance of the design with the finesse and technical sophistication while adding a timeless historic dimension. The strategic positioning of the tourbillon, the four barrels and the power reserve counter above the dial, creates a mesmerizing depth effect, accentuated by the incorporation of materials such as titanium that are used to reduce inertia and ensure the reliability of the timepiece.
To highlight all the mechanical elements of the timepiece, the skeletonised movement is placed above a stunning dial, allowing a clear distinction of the barrels and tourbillon cage. In contrast to traditional tourbillons powered by only one or two barrels, the Giga Tourbillon Vienne features four barrels to ensure an impressive 4-day power reserve elegantly displayed through a dedicated counter at the 12 o’clock position.
The dial is adorned with meticulous sunray brushing decoration, enhancing the luminosity and captivating reflections. The dial is a legacy of the exceptional know-how of Franck Muller craftsmanship, perfected over the years. Each detail from the dial brushing to the application of 25 layers of lacquer, contributes to this unique collection.
The Giga Tourbillon Vienne introduces two supplementary dials in conjunction with the conventional front dial. Positioned beneath the balance wheel, the second dial captures the essence of the timepiece: the Giga Tourbillon Vienne. Meanwhile, the third dial is situated on the back of the timepiece, features an aperture allowing the visibility of the central wheel and third wheel. An exquisite artistic illustration of the movement is subsequently incorporated on the back dial.
The Giga Tourbillon Vienne offers a collection of three distinctive timepieces crafted in rose gold, yellow gold and white gold. The rose gold harmonizes warm colors, drawing inspiration from architectural interiors. The yellow gold variant reflects external architectural elements, and the white gold version draws its inspiration from painting and spiritualism. The thoughtfully selected colours of the front dials harmonise with the architectural palette, featuring tones such as champagne, white and blue that evoke the richness of decorative wall hues and ceiling frescoes.
